PO. A. Fletcher Dead Overseas
Lindsay, March 30 (Special).—Official word was received this afternoon of the death of P/O Arthur Fletcher, son of Prof. (Lieut.) W.W. Fletcher, organist and choirmaster of Cambridge Street United Church, who is stationed at Yarmouth, N.S. on coastguard duty.
Pilot Officer Fletcher, 21 years of age, had been overseas four months. He was a graduate of the Lindsay Collegiate Institute and is survived by his parents, one sister in Calgary, one brother in Kingston and one sister at home in Lindsay. Before entering the service P/O. Fletcher was an apprentice in Dunoon's drug store in Lindsay. His father, Lieut. Fletcher, is a veteran of the last war and an organist for some time stationed at Sydney and Charlottetown. Since enlisting in this war he has been stationed on guard duty at Sherbrooke, Que., and Gravenhurst. P/O. Fletcher will be interred in England.

The effect of war, stark, deadly and grim has again struck at this peaceful community, the victim this time being P/O Arthur Fletcher, son of Lieut (Prof.) W. E. and Mrs. Fletcher. Wellington Street. Lindsay.
Word was received yesterday by Mrs. Fletcher that her son, Arthur, had been killed while on duty, Monday.
Memorial Service Held at Cambridge St United Church
Simple, Sincere Service Was In Memory of FO. James McLean, FO. Arthur Fletcher and Sgt.-Obs. Howard Sleep.
A simple sincere memorial service formed a part of the communion service held in Cambridge St. United Church, Sunday morning.
A magnificent array of flowers and palms across the front of the altar were placed by the families of the boys who have given their lives in the service of their country, namely F/O. James McLean, killed April 1st, 1942, Buried at Riverside; F/O. Arthur Fletcher, killed March 29th, 1943, Buried in England and Sgt-Obs. Howard Sleep, killed March 29th, 1943 and buried in Germany.
The pastor, Rev. J. J. Black, also referred to the recent passing of F/O. Bruce Frederick and to the sad news of Flt-Sgt. Jack Owens being reported as missing overseas. Prayers were offered by the pastor and a memorial hymn was sung.
