Pte. Mervin Harrison killed while overseas
Lindsay, Nov. 17 (Special) – Mrs. Marie Harrison of Ridout street, Lindsay, has received official confirmation that her husband, Pte. Mervin Leroy Harrison, 21, has been killed while serving with the Black Watch Regiment overseas.
Pte. Harrison is a son of Mr. Norman Harrison of Maple Lake, Ont. He en1isted at Peterboro in January, 1943, and after receiving training at Camp Borden and Cornwall went overseas in July, 1943.
Lindsay boy left hospital then killed
Mrs. Mervin Harrison, of Lindsay, (formerly Miss Marie Hildenbrand), has received the sad news that her husband, Pte. Mervin Harrison, was killed in action in Holland on Nov. 1st. The sad part of the story is, according to Mrs. Harrison, that her husband was wounded on July 26th and in his last letter home stated that he was returning to the war zone, although his leg was still stiff and sore. The letter was written on October 25th.
Pte. Harrison is the son of Mr. Norman Harrison, of Maple Lake (Haliburton County). He enlisted in Lindsay, having been previously employed at the Arsenal. His training was received at Peterboro, Cornwall and Camp Borden. The young soldier leaves to mourn his loss his wife and one daughter.
Native of Maple Lake is Killed

On Sunday afternoon a Memorial Service was held at Maple Lake for the late Pte. Mervin Harrison, who was killed in action recently. Many friends from Haliburton and surrounding district attended.
Killed in Action
Word has been officially received by Mr. Norman Harrison of Maple Lake that his son Pte. Norman Harrison has paid the supreme sacrifice in Holland, being killed on Nov. l.
Pte. Harrison enlisted in Peterboro receiving training at Peterboro, Cornwall and Camp Borden. He previously was wounded on July 26 receiving a leg injury and had only rejoined his unit a very short time when he was killed. He leaves to mourn his loss his young wife and daughter, his father and some brothers and sisters.
